The side LEDs are easy to damage if you are not extremely careful! This typically happens when folks try to unscrew the VHC band that the LED unit is pinned inside of. If you unscrew the VHC band, then try to just screw it back in, it usually pinches and binds the wires.

Its always best to unpin the side LED modules from the VHC band and pull the LED unit out entirely, before attempting to remove or adjust the VHC band. I plan to do a video on proper installation of this as soon as I can, and I will update the link here.
