This is the first lightsaber I've ever bought. My father had bought some 16 years ago from a different company, and passed away shortly after. I found them again hidden away in a box. Lighting it up brought back great memories. The batteries in mine had corrosion and there was no saving everything inside it. His lit up a brilliant blue!
So of course... down the rabbit hole I went. I wanted to know how things have changed since then. Many new styles, sound boards, blade effects... he would have bought everything! Me? I'm difficult. I don't have a color that speaks to me, I don't have a favorite Saber design... nothing has stood out to me.
I was nervous about getting one for myself, no clue on what my style is. Practicing with a friend of mine, using his to see if I wanted to continue with this hobby, and he suggested I look for scratch and dent, given it's a cheap way into it.
And here I am. Bought one from VireSabers. Got a basic sound board, and color changing. They took care of the rest.
The sound quality is rough, and it is very sensitive to movement... it makes the swoosh sound when nobody is near it and it's laying there. But... you can mute if it's too much.
It's got a smooth grip, some lines near the pommel that give great control dual handed. The switch blends smoothly with the grip and the emitter? So very nice! Has a natural choke to it. The balance is just right for me using a 28 inch blade. The colors? Crisp.
Is this for everyone? Probably not.. is it a great way into dueling hobby? Definitely.. do I have a style or color that I like now? Nope. Maybe one day something will stand out to me, until then, I'll be grabbing more of these for practice and perhaps a few mystery boxes for display.
