 You will want to make sure that you add a grip or combination of parts totaling at LEAST 2.3" to have enough hilt to cover the entire chassis. You can get away with a 2" extension IF you use a deeper pommel, such as the sentinel. 

I recommend a custom length blade between 9" and 12"
